Other Hikes

Here, I will be reporting on other hikes that I(we) have been taking or plan to take.

Allegheny National Forest, PA
I joined 9 other hikers for a Genesee Valley Chapter ADK two night backpacking trip into the Allegheny National Forest in PA on May 27 through May 29, 2005. Check out the pictures and journal. This is a very nice area for backpacking, hiking and boat camping. The campsites we stayed at for two nights were right on the water’s edge of the Allegheny Reservoir.

Wellesley Island State Park
I had a very enjoyable time tent camping overnight at Wellesley Island State Park in the Thousand Islands of NY as well as hiking the trails at the Minna Anthony common Nature Center in the Park. I hiked for approx. 5 hours on Sunday, September 7, 2003, covering approx. 10 miles. The trails are in excellent shape and easy to hike. One surprise was that I was alone the entire hike. I never came across another human (lots of animals) the entire five hours. For more information check out their web site. Check out the trail map and my pictures from the hike and camp grounds.

Letchworth State Park, Castile, NY
First a little history and information about Letchworth State Park - Click Here. Check out their web-site - Click Here. Check out our pictures from our July 30 and 31, 2003 and August 19 and 20, 2003 hikes in Letchworth State Park.

Finger Lakes Trail
On August 17, 2003 I had the pleasure of joining a trail maintenance party from the Genesee Valley Hiking Club to do some needed maintenance on the Finger Lakes Trail near Hornell, NY. Here are a couple of pictures I took that day.

Work in progress. Please check back soon.
