OK, it is late Monday afternoon around 4:30 or so with temperatures in the 30’s and snow flying around. We’ve done about all we can for the day in preparation for the Fly In on Tuesday and are relaxing around the fireplace in JBL. In walks a guy carrying a 45 lb kayak intent on “running” John’s Brook starting at JBL. With him is another guy who is waiting in his kayak north of the ranger station and the falls (smart fella) and a girl along to watch rather than participate except perhaps to pick up the pieces.

Of course it turns into our entertainment for the night. Here are several shots of this guy running John’s Brook including floating past what is left of the bridge. You can see the two support poles chained to the tree behind him. After stopping just above the falls by the Ranger Station, he walked along John’s Brook to scope it out and wisely decided not to run the rapids and falls by the Ranger Station. I guess he wasn’t as crazy as we thought after all. There is also a picture of his buddy waiting very patiently below the falls. Hope they made it out OK.
